No strikes, no legal action in MUA v Patrick says FWC
In a short note issued late on Friday night, Deputy President Booth of the Fair Work Commission announced that the Maritime Union of Australia had temporarily agreed not to take any strike action. In return, stevedoring company Patrick has agreed to temporarily not further any legal proceedings.
According to DP Booth, Patrick and the MUA have conducted negotiations from Tuesday 9 to Friday 12 February 2016 to reach a new Enterprise Agreement.
“The discussions between the parties have been positive and constructive,” said DP Booth.
He added that both sides have agreed to meet again, facilitated by the Commission, from Wednesday 17 to Friday 19 February 2016.
“These mutual commitments will provide the environment where further constructive discussions can take place,” DP Booth said.
